I think IB is insane Paul was a long time admin on vb.org. BirdOPrey5 are you going to stop as support staff?

Ah right. I thought Paul quoted what Lynne had said. So it's Paul and not Lynne who has been removed as admin then. Still, the others stepping down because of it is still a revolt none the less.

In that case... I think Paul being too critical of IB has backfired on him. Looks now then like they got rid of him in the first place because of Paul being to openly critical of vB5 and IB, now they dropped him from vB.org as well to get completely shut of him. Kinda sounds like they had enough of reading what he kept saying as IB staff..

vB(5) already marked the end of its era, the loss of vb.org's backbone will be the end of vB proper...

Too bad the software and the modder ecosystem are on the ropes after v5, otherwise it would be worth investigating creating a 'new vb.org', free from IB and its henchmen. Maybe even a software-agnostic community that covers addons from all forum software, not just vB.

Paul was TAZ staff for a long time, but sadly after IB came into the picture there was too much anti-IB pushback to keep him on board.

Given the current state of affairs, I felt that Paul's experience and expertise were far too valuable to be lost to us and that he should have a venue to remain engaged with the admin community. Happily, he agreed with me!

In the UK when you step down or are made redundant as well respected, long standing member of staff you get a leaving party, a speech from the head of department and a clock. In the US you get your stuff in a box and escorted off the premises. This is Paul being escorted off the premises.

Everyone knows it's ridiculous but everyone also knows it's the way Internet Brands swings. It is indeed the end of an era.

Well if BoP and Mark would leave now then vB would have lost great support staff with Lynne gone to.

I'm not resigning as support staff, but I put my odds at 50/50 if I'll still be a contractor come August. I wasn't happy with this decision and I made my feelings known.

I doubt this, they didn't drop him completely, they demoted him from an Admin to a Super-Moderator, he still could post anything he wanted, anywhere he wanted. But who knows, the logic escapes me anyway.

You got there in the end :) You could certainly look at it as a revolt, yes. Everyone made their own decision, either to stay or leave.

That may, or may not be true, only IB know that.
I happen to think there is probably an element of truth in it, Ive never hidden my contempt for some of their decisions.

However, nothing "backfired", I had been planning to leave IB for over a year, only the PHP7 work on vB3/4 kept me there.

The decision on vb.org did surprise me somewhat, since they have never cared about (or been interested in) the site.
What annoyed me most though was that they tried to pretend I'd agreed to it ! utter nonsense of course.

That's a bit simplistic, although mostly accurate. The rest left, I believe, because it was becoming clear that vb.org is no longer being run as it always was, and they don't want to be a part of it if its going to be an 'arm' of IB mismanagement.

I wonder what this all will mean for the future of vb.org Obviously its not good, but I can't help but wonder how bad will this be. Is this the beginning of the end for vb.org or a change? Do they want to stimulate webmasters to leave vb3/4 in favour of vb5 or will that turn out unrelated?

Well they had no real reason to remove you from vB.org, and after all the years you've been admin there as well. So it does look a little iffy as to why they removed you when it's always been mostly run by non vB staff. Not like they removed you because it's run by all staff members and you're no longer one - that doesn't come into it.

Aye, I forgot you was planning to leave anyway
