Relaunching In Xenforo

Sometime in either mid January or February, I plan to make the switch from Vbulletin to Xenforo. I've already decided the time to change has come.

Anyway, can anyone tell me what plug in this website is using on their front page for the images?

Also, how easy is it to install plugins compared to vbulletin 4xx?

I'm not sure which addon that is - it may be custom to that site. Installing plugins is very simple in XenForo. Upload the files, import the addon product XML, set the options (if necessary).

The site linked, Canyon Collective does have a really a nice looking landing page. To the best of my knowledge it's a custom job. I'm not aware of any available resources that would cater for it. http://xenforo.com/community/threads/8wayrun-com-xenporta-portal.26838/ might get you close with a little customisation. And yeah, installing add-ons is as easy as described.

Cool, good to know Xenforo is as easy (or easier) than Vbulletin.

I would say you will take a couple of days to find things which you used to have in vB. But the new style of forum will complement that.
