Proboards... any way of extracting threads and posts?

I got a friend who's going to move away from Proboards 'cos of the recent TOS changes.

I know that Proboards doesn't allow their data to be exported. But is there any way of extracting the threads and posts so that it can be imported (fairly accurately without much loss of post content) into another type of forum software?

Thanks! :)

There might be a couple of crawlers out there, but I'm not sure how reliable those are.

I believe I know somebody that paid proboards to export all of the data for him. I'm sure it was expensive though.

If you were going to SMF, convert to SMF. If you were going to phpBB, go to phpBB (some have to upgrade to 2 before upgrading to 3). If you were going elsewhere, convert to phpBB and then convert phpBB to something else.

I used this to convert a Zetaboards and a Forumer (IPB 1.3) forum to MyBB.

Hope this helps. I'm pretty knowledgeable about it. Besides, who cares if it's against Proboards' TOS?

And now the first one is near enough unusable because the creator was sad enough to actually remove it on the request of Proboards staff. To be personally honest, I find that part a complete contradiction on part of the tool's purpose.

Lucky I still have it. My friend got her Proboards forum deleted after she moved to SMF since someone reported her.

Why did they bother deleting it? Sending an email threatening legal action would be the only way to stop something like this. Deleting the proboards forum was probably a favor for said friend at that point.

Well, not in that case, because you have to keep the old forum open to PM your users your new password, since a new one is randomly generated. Also, it was against what she wanted.
