Is it good to use other peoples content from time to time, with reference to their website on your own blog? Especially when you start up and have a empty blog.

It is always better to write your own content.

Short quotes with links to them are fair.
To copy the whole content even with reference is not fair.

My blog is not much more than a commented list of links FWIW, however my views about certain topics gain some traction at times.

No, because Google loves quality content so better create your own quality content and share on social media sites to get business promotion and website ranking.

No, do not do this. This is considered as duplicacy, you might need permission from the blog owner and need to add a canonical tag.

I try to avoid anything generated by others. It's either 100 percent my content or nothing.
