Just while looking around the net today, saw the Namecheap actually has hosting, and pretty cheap too. I'm wondering what they're like and if anyone here has used them before. They come off to me as being a site that would only be as good as Godaddy or Hostgator, not a lot of expertise but maybe great for peeps that have static or simple sites.

    Anyone used them before?

    :)

This is an old topic but better to bump than opening a new one.

Does someone here use Namecheap Shared hosting? I am interested in speed, stability, down times.

    Thanks.

I used them and have for years. Great hosting for a great price! Just check out the first link in my signature and test it out.

All of the shared hosts are great... until your forum grows and you get kicked off of them.

I would suggest getting a small VPS and leave yourself LOTS of room. The added benefit is that you learn about hosting and the platforms while you have full support.

For $30 a month you can get solid hosting at futurehosting.com (VPS).
For more reviews on hosts, I suggest you visit WebHostingTalk.com? You can also find lots of specials there too.

I had been using them for 6-7 years . But the day I installed xenforo all my websites were kind of discouraged.
I found other websites with the same IP , they seemed fine.

It was a fresh installation , only visitor was me. I may be paranoid too.

BUT , they are definitely better than Godaddy or Hostgator.

One issue that I have seen with NameCheap is that it apparently does not play well with phpBB lately. I know I got their $9.99 intro shared plan to test out to see if it was another admin (GTB) having issues with it and quotes but turned out that a fresh install with no tweaks or add-ons on a test site had the same issue. If the (this was the 3.1 line) post had a " mark in it, the browser timed out. That included if you were performing a quote. This ONLY happened if you allowed guest posting. For registered users it worked fine. In the 3.2 line a guest user can quote 1 post, but if he quotes a quote then it breaks also. This is pretty much a NameCheap issue and since I wasn't interested in using phpBB I didn't really pursue it. It runs my WordPress blog fine.

I used them for wordpress hosting for a year and I never had any problems with their hosting. But I will warn you that if you need support your going to have to jump through hoops and have a long wait time. However they fixed my problem. :)

some of these responses are surprising to me....

i've used namecheap's dirt cheapest shared hosting for years.

support is perfect and instant for me (i only ever use the live chat, but hey, its avail 24/7/365). zero complaints.

speed and reliability have left me with zero issues.

the sites i have on them are small, however (~50 daily active users)

I've used them as a domain registrar for several years now. I'd rate their service & support at 99% = Near perfection.
I've not had many issues with them and the ones that I've had have been resolved via live chat and/or phone support with a swift quickness.
aimageup.jacquiidesigns.com_di_UI01.gif for Namecheap ... as far as their domain registrar service is concerned anyway.

I only rated 99% because sometimes navigating the site can be a bit tedious.
But as far as Namecheap's service and customer service reps are concerned ==> Excelente!:tup:

I love Namecheap for domain hosting. Site hosting, we had to go with Digital Ocean over Namecheap.

I use namecheap shared hosting to host my Vbulletin 5 forum along with other 3 site on the server.

The forum runs smoothly with no issue, one reason I love namecheap is because of their support. Once you chat them up or email them they respond asap and try to make sure your issue get resolved.

    I recommend namecheap.

One of my friend uses their WordPress hosting service. She says it's a decent service though a bit more pricey for her needs these days.

Their Shared plans are cheaper than their Wordpress plans.

And unless it's a super popular site, a cheap Shared plan would probably work just fine.
