I agree. I wish I could go back to a flip phone. If there was a better way to text built into one, I might just go back. For now, I have an iPhone 5

Thin metal frame enclosed in poly-carbonate. I abused the heck out of those phones back in the day. They weren't terribly expensive and had enough room for quality hardware. I drove over mine several times and threw it against brick walls out of frustration (when I was with bad service providers). I worked for a now defunct company around the time the bigger 80s style cell phones got downsized into smaller clamshells and we'd just gone with Nextel. That was literally the best service I've experienced. I dropped that phone in salt water while fishing on the shore and even once accidentally dropped it in soda. I hosed it down and let it sit in a bag of rice for a couple weeks. Worked like new until the day I resigned.
