    This should change nothing for forums in general.

    Some Facebook groups dealing with exclusivie and otherwise limited content like discounts and giveaways could get ahead with a paid subscription model that amortizes its cost over time. For example, Groupon, online stores and associations with memberships funded by fans on a model essentially similar to Patreon's but possibly friendlier to adopt worldwide.
