Nov 21 (Reuters) - The European Parliament is preparing a non-binding resolution that proposes splitting Google Inc's search engine operations in Europe from the rest of its business as one possible option to rein in the Internet company's dominance in the search market.

European politicians have grown increasingly concerned about Google's and other American companies' command of the Internet industry, and have sought ways to curb their power. A public call for a break-up would be the most far-reaching action proposed and a significant threat to Google's business.

That's cute. Recently a German paper tried to get Google to back off indexing their headlines and the first 100 characters of their press releases. Google complied, but the paper found that traffic dropped off at around 85% and their ad income went to zero. The problem here is that there's too much micromanaging of companies. The EU was successful with Microsoft, but Microsoft specializes in an OS and it specializes in business logistics. Google has the power within its complex to practically destroy a country's economy. Good luck trying to prove that Google is purposefully ruining all local businesses and large retail chains. Send it to the next page or two on grounds of blackhatting and they can't do a thing.

Articles like this are fluff pieces meant to rile up the citizens of countries as if their government is doing something.
