This is likely a little late, but Discourse 2.3 is out.

    They have:

Revamped the flag / review system.

Added Unicode usernames and translations for emoji names.

    Added staff notices for posts.

Added requesting membership to a group.

Added ignore which builds upon the existing mute feature by collapsing an enemy's posts.

Added the Assign plugin which allows you to assign topics to specific people, it would seem to be similar to how you can assign bug reports or tickets to specific people in bug trackers.

Added the ability to prune old accounts with no posts.

Added the ability to make 2FA mandatory for staff.

    Still no sane UI/UX.

Love it or hate it - the UI is distinctly Discourse.

I don't use Discourse, but I'm glad they're not just another community clone & going in a different direction.

LOL - well played. You are right.

But - pagination, not just another threaded layout, the dates, etc...

There's more "different" about Discourse than there is the same when it comes to forums in general.

    • Syntactically sane forum layouts died when MyBB removed the tree view.
    • Non-pagination (which really sucks when you have a very long thread and you want to find one specific answer, by the way - you'll have to behold the glorious JavaScript bloatware while scrolling for minutes because you cannot just "go to page 31" anymore - page 31 does not exist yet!) has been overdone a decade ago.
    • The dates? You mean, "posted a minute ago"? Talking about decades...
In my opinion, the pagination alone is a good reason to reconsider the antique punishment of Rhaphanidosis. For the developers. :gun:
