Best way to sell digital advertising locally?

I live in a small town, my job sucks and underpays me.

I know I can make a dent with facebook advertising that no one really does around here. How do I get into bed with the business owners?

Just off the top of my head, I'd suggest being an experienced digital marketing professional with an extensive portfolio would go a long way towards persuading local businesses to trust their advertising budgets to you.

Who's your audience?

If its your town and surroundings, you could help setup websites for local stores and schools in exchange for ad slots on their sites. A town newspaper should convert well with local ads since your audience would be easily secured with a little promotion.

I think most of the facebook ads layouts have option for local. And you can even set age, gender and the region too.
