Thank you. I post not to brag, but to point out to people that it can be done.
Wanna laugh? When I setup my first forum, I didn't know how to create a database in cpanel. I had to get help.
I remember those days. What would you say helped the most in terms of growth?
Lack of over moderation would be one factor.
Must have had a bunch of bad apples stinking up the whole place?
Unlikely with over 4 million posts I think the point is, and it's something I agree with, keep moderation to a bare minimum, just enough to keep the majority of members happy.
Not only that, but also talking to problematic members instead of banning them or something else punitive helps alot.
I agree, absolutely. I follow the same philosophy on all my forums.
This approach also helps when you have to actually ban someone. Other members pretty much know that the banned member was given every chance and still screwed it up. Not a lot of sympathy for them.
Good points. How many forums have you built up like this
Oh.. it's a car forum.
Right. Nice work!
Nice work Joeychgo, great job.
Trying to send you a PM but can't see an option. Any chance you could send me one if you get a minute?
You’ll need 10 posts to send a PM, but if Joeychgo sends you one you can talk with him.
Ah, that makes sense thanks.
