    a. Any estimation for release date?
    b. Or will it be in perpetual beta?
    c. Is the current beta stable?

The current beta is stable. It will not be perpetual beta. Release date is not anytime soon.

Until Beta 4 is released Beta 3 still has the security issue with CMS attachments. to fix it you need to copy over the /packages folder from the VB 4.2.2 patch. Then you're safe.

Thats not actually true anymore, I manually patched the download packages for Beta 3 with the fixed files last week.

There is no date for when it will come out of beta, there are still elements being discussed for beta 4 atm.

Thats why I was asking what they are referring to by "stable".

Is it going to fall over or crash ? No.
Will there be more minor updates or fixes ? Yes, there is already a beta 4 lined up.

Stable in a sense that it's much better than 4.2.2 ***********.

Beta by it's very definition is usable but not stable isn't it?
Otherwise we move from beta to RC right? Or am I mistaken?

It's beta because there are likely to still be changes before final release, but it's also stable in that it is safe to use, will not cause data loss nor add any additional bugs not in prior release versions- in fact fixes some.

    I am still with 4.2.1.
I had an idea that things wouldn't be easy with an upgrade and that is why I didn't bother.

Now, where did that idea stem from?
Being a relatively newcomer to the game, I soon learned (by my experience at vB.com) that the company or it's developers where not as good as I had expected them to be.

    I won't bother with 4.2.3 either.

If you are running 4.2.1 you are running a product with known exploits.

And if I upgrade, I am running a product with exploits not yet known.

Am I the only one who think perpetual beta is the best solution for vB4?

That's still fewer exploits than in 4.2.1 as in all likelihood any future exploits would be in 4.2.1 as well. It's unheard of for a patch to open a new exploit.

Directing all resources and attention to vB 4 would be the best solution for vB 4, for it's users, for the company and it's future.

Since I gave up on vB 5, I have had vb 4 running without any intrusion and until that changes, I will do nothing.
I don't need to do anything. I have a license but I am not really using it. I have been through so much aggravation with that purchase.

I get banned from the very people I gave the money to. I have been ripped off by the greatest forum software solution on the planet.

I really never expected this amount of entertainment from buying a ready made solution and as a result, my enthusiasm for this type of pastime has been eroded. I have given up on forums.

While I expect this was intended as another of your attacks, your statement actually applies to any current software.

I used it not too long ago and it works just fine, IMO.

    (Speaking of 4.2.3)
