Firefox 3 is the best. I have never had problems with it. I am getting pretty stoked for the release of Firefox 3.5 myself.
I'd recommend DreamHost. They even have "One Click Installs" for Joomla. There servers are fast and reliable.
True, I guess I never really looked at their forums. I like how it stays consistent with the site in the iframe for sure.
I agree with Cipher, use PhpBB and install it in a new directory. Try to find, modify or create a template/skin that matches the main website.
I'd recommend Wordpress, its easy and pretty customizable.

Great post, you can also add a donation mod to maybe have users of the forum donate money.
I upgraded yesterday also. Took no more in a minute, it didn't seem to affect my users/site visitors.

Yeah, I think vBulletin is the only forum software by default that sends Birthday Wishes out. All the other require some special modification.

I would go with Drupal, Joomla, or Wordpress. All very nice CMS's.
