I did already LOL. You made an exquisite point with it too. I mean - I always find it funny when folks say similar to what dude said - about overused riffs - we're talking about a 7 note scale!... And his 'generic artist' insult... Makes you want to scream SHUT UP when some opinionated goof behind a keyboard starts hurling such unwarranted insults.

But yeah - I peeped the vid after you made the edit. I'd rated your post Agree. But saw the vid and changed the rating to Winner.

J.
Haha indeed it is a good point most of today most popular songs all use the same riffs and chords. We slapped him in the face with a kapow

Well - folks are welcome to their opinion of course. But my opinion is absolute fact - absolutely all of the time bahaha!!
I'm being ridiculous. But in the words of Maury Povich "The lie detector results came back and have determined that sbjsbj's insult is a LIE!"
Indeed Louise Parker CAN sing

So - we hit him with the KAPOW! and the POWDOW!

Not the bad guy ... At all as far as I can tell. Just the loud guy who apparently doesn't know how to offer constructive criticism without offending the hell out of a talented artist and her supporters. Meh. Diff'rent strokes for different folks.
Excuse me but I said that I don't want to be "that" bad guy. But what did happen? Oh, I am declared as a one. Coincidence? No, of course not because fanboys or fangirls always react like this. They feel like their feelings are being attacked...
I tried my subtlest way to say that she can't sing. How else should I have said that? What is a subtle way to say someone that she/he can't sing other than that saying that this person just can't?
And I gave constructive criticism. Told to get a good producer and autotune specialist. Do you even understand what constructive means? It doesn't mean I have to say something YOU want me to, it is being constructive, hence giving a solution to the problem.

Problem: She can't sing.
My constructive cricisim (solution): get a good producer and someone who knows autotune.

You must be deaf. You must be to say she cannot sing. I don't like people like yourself, very negative not really offering any constructive critisism and just damn right rude. If you call a someone talentless whom has done what she has, well I feel sorry you. This thread was created to help a friend not to rip her to shreds. Don't like her music don't post. Oh and you mentioned over used riffs please watch said video below.

I must be deaf? Is that the propper way to convince others that you are right and I am not?
It is not about me being not liking her music, if it comes to that I don't like many things. But liking something and thinking someone can sing are actually different things. And you can like her music or not, just she can't sing.
1 2 3 4 5
These 5 examples all happened in only 30 seconds in only one song... Me being deaf...
And musicians and you have to live with the idea of free speech and opinions. I DECIDE where I will post and where not. Not you. I don't have to act like you want me to. And I am not a negative person, just stating the obvious thing.

And is it irony or what? You posting a video of overused riffs but you don't realize the same thing when your friend does it?
Her "State of Grace" song from the first post... ARE YOU DEAF?

And I did constructive cricisim. In my first message here and now.

Totally agree!
I begin to think sbjsbj's post was just an intentional flame for the hell of being obnoxious. Autotune? I mean SERIOUSLY! Some people

J.
Yeah, deep inside I am an evil. I listen to Jazz by the way, where you find real musicians and people who can actually sing. So I guess Jazz must be also very obnoxious because we can't tolerate people who can't sing and claim to be "musicians".

Some people weren't born to be nice. J watch the vid I added to me previous post you will enjoy it
Yeah, some people like me just deserve being insulted from people like you. I wasn't born nice? Is that a racist thing? Or genetic?
All people who don't share your feelings and opinions aren't nice I assume. Right? I mean where would we be, if people would have their own thoughts? Thoughts others won't like. We all should be under your command...

And his 'generic artist' insult... Makes you want to scream SHUT UP when some opinionated goof behind a keyboard starts hurling such unwarranted insults.
Your tolerance... Unbelievable.
And she is really generic, listen closely to the melody of what she sings. The ups and downs, you will notice it. Forget for a second the generic lyrics and used instruments, listen only to the melody of her voice. Anyway, just a waste of time to discuss with fanboys who can't tolerate other opinions other than theirs.

IF YOU say so, then it must be true.
And again, I didn't insult her. When you see someone who can't drive and say he can not drive. Is this an insult?
I just said what I saw/listened. Maybe I am wrong but it doesn't make my words an insult. But again, you woudn't understand this. You have to be objective to understand that this is not about feelings.

And by the way, I wish all the best for this lady. Be the world her alone.

Well Remember there is criticism and constructive criticism, some people tend to not use the latter, and go with the former.
"criticism or advice that is useful and intended to help or improve something, often with an offer of possible solutions"

I said:
"she should get a autotune professional
But with a decent producer she can make money."

I actually gave 2 constructive solutions.

Ooof. o_O

I can't imagine that her singing track was matched up with a music track properly. Who ever mixed that was either purposely making it sound like crap or they themselves are tone deaf. Louise is too off way too often and so free of talent she definitely is not.

I was not complaining about overused riffs that was you, i was merely showing you that many of the popular songs use the same things, meaning who cares? if a song is good its good. I do not have much more to say, you don't like her voice then you do not need to rip her to shreds. s.molinari posted in a way which wasn't so rude as yours. Would you go upto someone in the street who was busking and be like 'pal you cant sing get auto tune' nah i do not think you would, and if you would well then you are one heartless person. do you not care about peoples feelings? obviously not, there are ways to say she needs to improve rather than just saying 'you cant sing'

Ahh, sorry. Now I get it. I thought you are trying to convince me that she is not using the same things, but actually you were trying to say that she is and everyone does it.

But you admit it by your own. You give an example of a) that everyone does it, b) that nobody cares and c)"if it is good then it is good"-kind of arguement.
Which is by definition: being generic...
So, you also are aware of that she is generic, just you are her friend so you wouldn't tell her...
But I do and I am right.

I do not have much more to say, you don't like her voice then you do not need to rip her to shreds.
As I said, it is not me not liking her voice, just she can't sing. I don't want to rip her to shreds but you gotta be honest, if you want that those people develop some skills.

Would you go upto someone in the street who was busking and be like 'pal you cant sing get auto tune'
What is wrong about being honest?

i do not think you would, and if you would well then you are one heartless person.
Yeah, heartless. Look, you are the heartless person here. Because nothing is more harmful than building up a cage of lies and illusions. If you keep this illusion and you lie every time to this person "you are a good musician" than the fall will be damn bad. Really bad. As a friend, you should always be honest to her, it is the better thing in the long run.

do you not care about peoples feelings? obviously not, there are ways to say she needs to improve rather than just saying 'you cant sing'
I do care, so I say straightforward the ugly truth. It might hurt in first instance but it is a lot better than spending months and years and feeling miserably, why she isn't succeeding...
But hey, there is a good side of the story here.
She is young, she is a female, her target audience is the pop culture and she can play the guitar a little bit (If I am not mistaken). So a lot of potential for her.
Neither can Katy Perry sing , but she is one of the biggest popstarts today... Why?
Hmm..because she has a good producer and AUTOTUNE! (Also she is female and is generic).

So my words have in my opinion more value than any kind of illusion you try to build up.

You are annoying me now saying you are RIGHT. I enjoy her music and her voice, the only song you said she was bad in was a parody song and not her music. I am not making it worse by saying he is good when she is. I'm going to leave it here before I say something I shouldn't even though I shouldn't spare your feelings. I believe she is good you do not. Whatever you think I'll be laughing when she can make a living from any of her musical talent.

Morganna can you please close this thread. I'm very pissed off all I wanted was a place to ask people for help with her kickstarter and not be bombarded by some dude. Thanks to anyone who did help support her.

Ok, lets get back on topic please. :)

This thread is about helping the person out, not whether you think she has talent or not. Either you want to help her reach her goal, or not. No reason to argue about hitting notes and such. :)

People who can't deal with arguements, are desperately avoiding discussions (on a discussion plattform, as a reminder...)
Even though I didn't insult once, I was insulted many times on this thread.

Anyway, this "dude" who "wasn't born to be nice", wishes still the best for this lady.

With that said, she should spend the money from the kickstarter project to singing lessons instead of publishing her music.
