Converting vBulletin 5 to Xenforo : Options / Success stories / Failures

It is hard to find information how to convert vB5 to Xenforo.
Please use this thread to share knowledge on this painful and difficult process.

Options
(1) Get Claudio from todo10 to do it. http://www.todo10.com/en/forum-services.php
(2) Get SchmitzIT to do it.
(3) get someone to convert vB5 => IPB => XF.
(4) get someone to convert vB5 => vB4 => xF
(5) try Woltlab's Burning Board : Wotlab 4.1 includes an importer from vb5.
(6) Another option found: He will convert vB5 to Xenforo

- Anyone know a good vB5 to vB4 converter (apparently IB doesnt have one) ?
- Anyone know if gconverter does vB5 to XF or vB4 ?

Well I can point out that passwords can almost always be converted. In phpBB I can write a module that will convert passwords from any system that ever been made. Not sure if the same can be done for XF.

Yep, there are different classes using different mechanisms in XenForo to authenticate the user.

So in that case someone should be able to write such a class to deal with those passwords

I believe XF does do this for the forum apps it can import.
