Software Complainers

Do any of you ever get members who gripe and complain about the forum software you use?

Do you ever get users who refuse to join your forum because of the software you use?

Not so much complaints about the forum software I use, but there are certainly many different opinions on the themes that are used.

to dark.. to light... to big...to small... to cluttered... add this... remove that.... to many rules... not enough rules... why that color... use this color...

Word to the wise---> "You can't please everybody" LOL!!!

I've had people join and say the software was a reason they did, but I don't think I've had people not join because of the forum software being used.


And heck, I don't think I've seen anyone refuse to join a forum based on software. SMF, phpBB, MyBB, vBulletin, Invision Power Board or XenForo, they all matter less to anyone than the content and community does.

I have encountered several people who refuse to join a forum that's running SMF, mostly because it's not MyBB. Dojo, in particular, was very vocal about it and was surprised to learn that this site was running SMF because it didn't look like SMF (more accurately, it didn't look like SMF that she used 5 years ago)
