Good evening,

What would you guys says is a good "Bounce Rate" in Google Analytics? I know the lower the number the better, but I was just wondering what everyone else is getting...

After being setup for one day, it looks like I have a bounce rate of 15.15%

Is that too high?

Thanks!

Bounce rate is such a subjective thing, what is a good BR in some instances and markets is absolutely horrible in others.

For instance one of my largest sites has 300,000 visits a day, but a BR of 26.81%. Which objectively seems high, but compared with other sites in the sector is just slightly below average.

Another one of my sites with 50,000 visits a has a BR of 15.33%, but that comparatively high compared to it's competitors.

Swings and roundabouts :p

Electric Jones is right, it is a subjective thing. Overall 15.5% is pretty low and a good thing. What you would want to see is what our your bounce rates for different sources, such as search traffic, vs. referral traffic, vs. direct traffic when they type the domain in or click on a bookmark.

Once you can start comparing different traffic sources, then you can work on improving (lowering) your bounce rate. Maybe you have 7% on direct traffic by 30% on search engines. You would want to find out why when ppl come to your site via a search engine they are 'bouncing' without looking at any other pages. Are they not finding what they expect, is a typical landing page confusing, are you not performing well on keywords that you would want to perform well on, etc.

That makes sense! Thanks!

I've really just started using Google Analytics and I have to say it's amazing the amount of info you can get! :)

Some bounce rates are as high as 60-80%, so you guys are doing fine!

Guys, You should not be more concern with bounce rates, Using web analytics to evaluate your site should be a given, but often even the most savvy online marketing experts fail to properly utilize bounce rate statistics, which is a mistake. If you want to stop your visitors from taking one look at your site and bouncing, find out what’s driving them away and fix it now.

Bounce rate in itself isn’t that important. The important thing is to take steps to improve that – either through altering the site or tailoring SEO efforts to target people that respond best to the site.

In short it’s not the number – it’s what you do with it. : )

some websites are having 50 to 60 % bounce rate , how to reduce that kinds of bounce rate, is that problems in content are to change keywords.
