Reactions Done Right?

The fact that the crown jewel feature of a future version of a software (that's not even out yet) has already been implemented as a mod for years and is already in place by other first party developers sort of makes evident why I'm on IPS.

Sort of like My Space introducing Groups.
Oh. I see. I can understand that. I was trying to lighten the mood of the thread. :)

I've got 27 and it works great using the box layout from Xon 's implementation, which seems to be the way the new XF2.1 version is. I've not tested the native XF version yet with that many reactions, but it seems pretty similar.

Yeah, the current emoji definitely works best for Thoughtful / Thinking

Personally I prefer just having Interesting on it's own, so will probably use the same emoji, but for interesting and not have Thoughtful.

In terms of maximising reactions and getting people to react to posts, I think more posts are 'Interesting', vs 'Thoughtful'.

I'm not sure what emoji would be best for Interesting though, if you did want both and the current one is used for Thoughtful.

Maybe monocle man?

Or raised eyebrow?

The raised eyebrow one , expression looks like it's saying... are you flirting with me... The monocle one seems to be saying ....That's absurd!

There's no real way to do a "huh?" or "wha?" expression... The best one is that blue face with the animated eyebrow.

Wow. Some brilliant ideas here...
I actually did an animation of the FB reactions:
reactions.gif

But now after seeing the interesting, yet conflicting, posts in the thread as regards copyright - I'm *sorta* rethinking the idea and perhaps may create a set of custom reactions for my new project.

Anyway - Nice stuff guys. Thanks for the ideas.

Yup. Me too!
Kinda blown away. And there would be no copyright issues. So wow.
Grateful for the info share.

Yeah i like the JOY ones the best you can see the side by side with other platforms here

https://unicode.org/emoji/charts/full-emoji-list.html

The JOY ones are free open source , the animated ones look awesome but i don't think they are free... unless you want them to be free...lol anyway not sure if IC will support animated reactions or not, does XF?

Yup. Looks like the animated reactions require a license purchase. $49 for "personal use" ... And ugh... I wonder... I'm tempted. But my lack of budget LOL...
And yes indeed. XF supports animated reactions. The FB reactions I posted I coded as a .css sprite. Kinda cool actually. But yeah. I'm kinda tempted to splurge on these new animated emojis you've so graciously shared. What to do - what to do?....

I kinda like Discord's ones, they absolutely spoil you with choice, maybe too much choice lol
It might be interesting to see systems adopt something like that.

Ohh, Joy Emoji are just Emoji One. So XF2 already uses the static emoji in the default picker.

It seems they keep changing their licencing though, I'm sure I've downloaded the SVG versions of them in the past, now you can't get vector version unless you pay

I wonder if XF already pay for an enterprise licence in to include them in XF, if so, they might be entitled to include the animated ones too
