Software needs.
- excellent editor (like Xenforo's
- easily embed YouTube.
- paste images from clipboard.
- share "research" with family, whomever.

Ideas:
"offline" Xenforo 2 with custom data fields ?
tweaked Resource manager ?
"offline" Invision w/ pages ?
would like the data easily accessible on my phone.

Real Life Example:

So our couch is stained and I'm looking for an upholstery cleaner vacuum.
I want to collect some information about
- what are the features in upholstery vacuums.
- what are common brands
- what are the prices and where can I get them.

So it's like a mini research project.

Anyone know any software that helps the data collection process ?

How would you go about this mini-data collection / gathering project ? ?

Needs:
- clean up stains as they happen.
- clean carpet in cars.
- clean up pet accidents, etc.
- cleaning carpet small spots here and there.

Will pay for suction power.
Don't really mind weight of the item.
Don't want heater, I'll put hot water in !
Want to use a plugged in cord (no lithium battery).

Bissell SpotClean Pro 3624 (Est. $130)
"Small but mighty" is how we've seen dozens of reviewers describe the
http://www.consumersearch.com/carpet-cleaners/best-portable-and-spot-carpet-cleaners
cord is 22-feet long and the hose is 5-feet, giving it a good reach.
At just 13.2 pounds, it's considered highly portable by most reviewers,
although a few still complain that it's heavy, especially when filled with water.

Are you looking to add it to forum?

Invision's Pages app can do a database like that, and you can use filter/sort options... not sure about side by side comparison.

BISSELL SpotClean Auto Portable Cleaner for Carpet & Cars, 7786A
is the one I think I'll get.

One is on sale local for $95.

But if there wasn't a local deal, I think I'd get a Bissell SpotClean Pro 3624 from Wayfair.ca

It's more for personal use. I would love something similar for a forum though.

Interesting.
Good point !

I actually would want something more free form that a rigid database.

Anyone ever use Invision's Pages for a database ?

If you're interested in scraping commercial listings, the difficulty in some of your criterias is that comparing well defined characteristics and fields is standard price comparator functionalty, but more subjective criterias like 'which works better for cleaning chocolate' would need additional sources fed it's not viable to populate yourself (assuming the marketplace listings do not include customer reviews or their format unpredictably differs across the reference sites used).

Either way, I suggest giving Parsehub a look (payware, with a free starter plan). See if it might suit your purposes, especially building/caching a local dataset specific to your search criterias which could be polled quicker and at a lower cost than PH's huge indexes.
