So I have ran small open source boards for years now, where most add-ons were free. The downside is that most people abandoned those add-ons and others didn't feel the need to pick them up.

When exploring options, finally settling on Xenforo, the quality and number of add-ons was pretty remarkable. A lot them have, what I consider, a hefty price tag. But with good reason. For the most part it seems the legit devs do a pretty good job at staying on top bugs and updates. So I didn't mind shelling out some $$$ on good quality and good support.

That being said, I just got my PayPal statement............. Yea, purchasing an add-on or 2 a week added up to more than I expected.

So back to the question: What do y'all spend on add-ons? Maybe name some add-ons that you feel merit the yearly renewal..

Before I spend even a single penny on an addon I will first search the entire web plus the deep web for a free alternative. And this is not because I'm too much miser (I know my avatar could pass another message LOL), but I love to search all the possibilities around. The most of the times I do so I also find what I'm searching for for free.

About US$50 a year all up. Most of our addons are free, but we use Sportsbook, TaigaChat Pro, and Taking Likes to the Next Level as well as a few lesser cost addons.

For each of my XenForo forums, I bought:
Conversation Essentials - 45 USD
CTA Featured Threads & Portal - 40 GBP
GoodForNothing Kraken - 25 USD
Simple Forms - 25 USD
Post Ratings - 20 GBP
XenCentral Trading System - 50 EUR
XenForo Media Gallery - 60 USD
XenForo Enhanced Search - 50 USD
Pix-House Keyword Management - 20 USD
Sticky Navigation - 10 USD

Those are the original purchase costs. The yearly support/upgrade costs are in most cases lower than the purchase prices given.

I've also donated to support many free addons.

It's costing me way more than I used to pay with vBulletin, but I think the results are worth it.
