I'm not sure I get what you mean? We have some basic documentation regarding developing themes for 1.x now, but there's no release or documentation for 2.0 yet.

It'd be kind of nice to have a theme ready to go, but I am being a bit too greedy.

We'll have several Alpha, Beta, and Release Candidate releases before we go gold, so themes and plugins can start to be developed well before the final release

I use MyBB now and love it. The fact that MyBB 2.0 will be free, offer more control, have a real modern feel, and be fully responsive for mobile ... is nerdgasm territory.
