Isn't keyword stuffing when you put unrelated words associated with a page ?
Like a page about washing machines and it's stuffed with sex, boobs, naked, hot ?

Keyword stuffing is any unnatural attempt to put keywords you want to rank for on a page.

With the mod, it puts your top keywords on the page that you're trying to rank for. In most cases it's going to do very little, as the volume of keywords is just keywords on its own - it doesn't read naturally, and will probably be ignored. There may be a small number of occasions where it slightly helps (very minor benefit), where the percentage of keywords to other phrases on the page hits the right amount. On the other hand, if it's not being ignored by search engines it's far more likely to be viewed as keyword stuffing - the percentage of keywords on the page compared to natural text is going to be too high. When the keywords are just placed on their own, it makes it look even more unnatural.

It's intentional keyword stuffing - even in the small number of cases where it might give you a benefit, Google is only going to get better at recognising it. It's a technique that maybe worked before Penguin and Panda, but you're really putting it on a forum in 2015?

Spot on, just to add to that using plugins like that can leave a nice footprint to show your trying to manipulate. A couple of years back there was a big fuss on the usage of a plugin called "search term tagging" which basically done the same thing as what you are talking about but for wordpress, it was marginally effective for a short term but as with most things which show signs of improvement they then get over used by the masses, the issue with using a widely used plugin which has no other usage other than to manipulate is the footprint it leaves behind , a simple search in google will easily show all the blogs still using that plugin.............same goes for the majority of these plugins on forums too.

Also used to be some evil things you could do with those search term plugins if the admin hadnt added any censorship and didnt monitor the incoming search key terms, saturation of naughty keywords stuffed on search queries is obviously not good :D

I thought this addon had been removed ages ago. The staff did have a discussion about how bloody horrible it was :D

No, because it was a staff discussion - like I said :)
Pretty pointless to mention it then LOL
I thought it was interesting though, because I had no idea such an add-on would be considered a keyword-stuffing no-no o_O
Has the add-on been removed now though? I recall having seen it in threads as Will_Watts mention in his initial post. The "Users found this page by searching for..." block is gone now?

Not really, if you think about the context. People are talking about the addon and why it's here, I (and I'm sure a few others) thought it had already been removed. There is really no need for the entire discussion to be shared, since it was basically "why is that installed?" "God, that looks terrible" and "can we get rid of it?" - not very exciting :D

I *think* it's been removed.
I wonder if it's because of the possible negative impact it may have on the forum as per Will's suggestion...?

If I'm reading you right that's really just a little restyling of what's default in terms of functionality. Or if you are referring to the menu when opened, that again is mainly restyling adding Font Awesome icons although I'd imagine there may some template editing involved.

I have a small question. What do you use for the feeder on here? For the software releases and such.

I believe it's default XF functionality:
AdminCP ==> Applications ==> Feeder ---- Then simply "Register New Feed" -- input the rss feed url, username of the poster, etc...
Don't quote me on that - but I believe it's what TAZ makes use of anyway.

I'll see what that does. I also found this while looking around, wasn't for sure if I should try it until I got an answer with this.

That waindigo add-on was last updated Aug 1, 2014 and states compatibility for up to XF 1.4 --- Don't quote me on it - But I'm not sure it would work with the new 1.5 beta .... I would strongly advise holding off on installing such an add-on whose functionality is already part of the default XF featureset ---- But you know what??? Reading the add-on description you'll see, "Extends the Registered Feeds functionality, with automated replying to threads and resource creation" - so it is an extension to the default XF functionality.

I'm sure The Sandman, Morganna, zappaDPJ and/or Steve can clarify whether TAZ is using default XF functionality, an add-on, the waindigo extension or all of the above LOL. HTH ;)
