Zombies

My absolute favourite movie genre, even some of the really really bad ones are good in a really really bad way.

I just caught up on the last couple of Romero movies on DVD & have decided that Diary of the Dead > Dawn of the Dead although Shaun of the Dead will always be my favourite because Simon Pegg & Nick Frost are such an awesome comic duo, (see Hot Fuzz), and in many ways it's a lot more realistic than the Romero movies.

I don't like Zombie movie. The only one I really enjoyed is the mentioned Shaun of the Dead, which is fun.
Pegg and Frost were good in Hot Fuzz as well.

Anyway, zombie and horror movies in general are too scary for me.

I dont mind them

28 days later was amazing. I was honestly exhausted after watching that whole movie as it kept me on edge... re-think of Zombies moving so fast, running.... yeeks

p.s. Ever read Stephen King's Zombie short story, something about Star Wormwood? Chilling.

28 days later - definitely one of the best in the genre, it's even credited with jump starting the genre again. 28 weeks later is good, but it's not the same, Danny Boyle's gritty touch is missing.

lol jump start...literally. I still watch the replay of the beginning of 28 days over and over... camera angles, surprise, pure desperation, bedlam, it's something.

Okay , and you've convinced me to give danny boyle a try. I'd been wanting to watch it for a while, but keep putting it off.

Shallow Grave is the movie he did before Trainspotting, it's pretty good.

k, this is off topic but, you're in that same movie zone I am.. at the time Shallow Grave came out, another movie was released... a group of socialist students having dinner parties at their house on weekends...they would invite extremists over to their house to give them a chance to voice their views... and if they were too extreme, they'd be passed the cup of poison and buried out in the back yard under a tomato plant.

Eventually, the backyard was packed with tomatoe plants, and they ended up finally at the point of targeting a girl scout who showed up selling cookies because their sense of the moderate had been changed with their actions.

I have been asking this question to a lot of my friends for a while now, and we can't nail the movie...any idea?

Shallow grave was awesome btw.

I think it was more about the comical value of this film than the zombies themselves. Some of the one-liners were pretty witty and some dark humour as well.
Not the best film but not too bad either
I do have to admit I have got a thing for 28 days later.

What do people think about virus films like Resident evil?

I like Zombieland but, as you say, the zombies themselves aren't the main event, it's more about the interaction between the characters.

I have a DVD caterogisation dilemma about Planet Terror - should I put it with the Zombie movies or with Death Proof because it's the other Grindhouse movie?

Resident Evil is alright, not my favourite franchise, but entertaining enough.

i like zombie movies as much as the next guy. but i haven't seen many of them. i recall seeing night of the living dead (the black and white one) when i was young, scared the bajesus out of me.

return of the living dead was very comic, it was alright. shaun of the dead, completely brilliant. i should watch some more zombie movies.

I love LOVE LOVE Zombie movies.

I am actually reading World War Z. A must read for any fan of zombie lore.

Didn't think I'd like it because it's a book & not a movie. Boy was I wrong. I read it in 4 days. Couldn't put it down.
