Sorry for the late replies... worked a brutal 24 hour shift over the weekend and had some stuff going on at work.
Of all the features / subforums / add-ons trialed over the years on TAZ that didn't work (were eventually removed)...
Which was the most immediately obvious 'bad idea, never gonna work'?Which do you wish would have worked / could have stayed the most?
The most immediately obvious "bad idea, never gonna work" had to be the hot seat forum, where people could debate politics, religion, etc..

The feature I miss the most is the Forum Reviews - over the years we had quite a few very talented admins reviewing forums in depth for us and I really hated to see that go.

What I'd do with ten million Venezuelans... ?
That would be just enough to renew the XF script for a year to be able to transfer ownership of TAZ.
Are the addons transferable? If not then the new owner would need 10 billion Venezuelans to install them.

I'm not looking to sell it, but if the right person offered me the right price... I'd consider it.

You?

Me no, i want to start a new site and still planning a friend of mine i need to talk with so he can write articles. I want to much in one go and i am alone and i do not want it be full time hobby of mine. If you look at TAZ you'll need to put lots of time into it i would like it but i want a different path i can't handle more sites then one at the moment.

The Sandman This is your only forum ever? Unusual for someone to start with a forum about forums, no?
Not my only one ever, but it was the first forum I owned and the only successful one.

Unusual? Based on what... all the other successful forums about forums started by seasoned forum owners?

Apart from forum sw support forums... what other?
Guess it came naturally to you since you started with a forum about forums. Interesting.
That’s my point... what other?

I mentioned in an earlier reply to this thread that the original idea for TAZ was from Kathy... we were both members of the vB.com community and she saw a need for a “neutral” (i.e. not in the forum software business) alternative for forum admin discussions. We discussed it and started TAZ together.

From the beginning we each made different but equally important contributions to the site. Originally it was to be for vB admins only but we soon expanded it to include all forum software. Thanks to Kathy and me, and countless awesome members and staffers over the years TAZ grew to become what it is today despite some bumps in the road.

Kathy was a professional forumer with a large, successful site. Forums were only ever a hobby for me. Eventually, Kathy stepped away from TAZ, because her ultimate vision was for TAZ to be focused on professional forums and admins... but the natural evolution of the site led it in the other direction... more for nonprofessionals.

You mentioned TAZ being the first forum you owned earlier in this thread.

Not my only one ever, but it was the first forum I owned and the only successful one.

Which makes me kind of curious about how you ended up on vBulletin.com. I assume you were probably an admin on some vB-powered forums back then?
