I'm curious how many here run on a dedicated (or like me, collocated) servers. I'm going to be making a change to my setup soon and would like an idea of what everyone else is doing....

Who is it hosted with?

How much does it cost?

What kind of specs on the server? (ram, processor, etc)

Yes sir! I think last month it was $9.38. Once you get a higher tier, it starts to really get expensive though.

I'm pretty sure that's a VPS, not a dedicated.

Those are actually virtual machines, not true dedicated. I run test setups and a few clients there.

Last time i had a dedicated server was 5 years ago, when i downscaled i went from dedicated 20 euro per month to vps around 9 euro. The dedicated server i got from Hetzner. Before that from other German hosters all around 20 euro's. At the moment my vps is enough for what i do.

Cyberwurx.com at the Marietta street facility in Atlanta. Very high amount of bandwidth feeds going into there. They don't list very much on their site, they aren't big into dedicated/shared (though they do it). The bulk of their business is co-locating from 1 server to as many rows of cabinets you could possibly want.

I have 100s of VPS servers with 16+ web hosts but only 2 dedicated right now with unmanaged providers so you need to know your system admin stuff as there is virtually no support or hand holding

Both servers are just testing servers for my Centmin Mod LEMP stack development so no production sites really. All my live sites are on cloud/vps servers just for cost and redundancy (disk end). Example of disk end redundancy, Linode raid array hardware failure only takes 3 minutes 40 seconds to migrate entire VPS server data and all to a new host node https://community.centminmod.com/threads/linode-block-storage-early-access.11985/#post-52898.

My Centmin Mod forums are hosted on 8GB Linode KVM VPS. Even wrote up a Linode StackScript for Centmin Mod LEMP stack deployments

Well, give the previous responses, I dont use what some mean by "dedicated", but I do use VPS.

In fact my site has one VPS for the data, and three web servers. I dont think many forum sites use (or need) true dedicated servers.
