How I found TAZ!

By Soulwatcher · Aug 15, 2017 · ·
  1. Once upon a time (2006) I was a young forum admin and I had no idea what I was doing but I wanted a forum. So I google searched Admin Forums and TAZ came up. And I kind of felt like "Johnny 5" in short circuit. I do believe I read almost every post on TAZ in a week's time.

And then I decided it was time to take the plunge and buy VB. And if buying VB wasn't a big enough purchase I built a web server to go with it and I colocated it in Indina. But the story gets a lot better! I drove from Metro Detroit area in Michigan to Chicago Indiana and I dropped the server off and drove home in the same day.
Needless to say the forum did not work out as with many of my other forums over the years. And over the years I built 3 more forums and 3 more servers and collocated them all. :rofl:And they all ended up failing too.

And then I decided it was time to take a break and look back on the past and look ahead on the future. And looking back I realized it's not the amount of posts and users on the forum. It's the core group of members that make a forum. And Taz has a great core group of members, which has kept me coming back for over 11 years now. :gogo: And I feel that it is a honor and a blessing to be part of TAZ all these years.

P.S. Recently I came back out of forum retirement and I did make a new forum. But I didn't buy a web server

HA! You joined a few months before I did. It's crazy to think of being on TAZ for 11 years. I'm like WOW. TAZ is one of the longest relationships (read: love/hate/love fests) I've ever had. And like a fine wine - TAZ has managed to get even better with time. TAZ is super-sexy hehehe.

Unlike most here, I've only been in the admin game for just over 3 years now, and I've only been a member here for about 6 weeks.

I wish I had found this site sooner, but I was kinda busy learning how to code for vBulletin, and I had a great deal to learn being a retired programmer with a 10 year hiatus who had never done any kind of web coding. In a way, I am glad I matured a bit as an admin before making my "grand entrance" here. :)

And code you most certainly have done. And well from the looks of it. I'm in awe at the amount of vB add-ons you've shared since joining TAZ. TAZ is lucky to have you!
